Global Screen adds Murder on the Inca Trail, Recipes for Love & Murder to Cannes slate

Murder on the Inca Trail is produced by Westside for ARD Degeto and BR

MIPCOM: Vuelta-owned European distributor Global Screen has picked up sales rights to a handful of new crime dramas to launch to buyers in Cannes this week, including German crime thriller Murder on the Inca Trail.

The 4×45’ or 2×90’ series is produced by Westside for ARD Degeto and BR and stars Nina Gummich (Alice, Charité) and Thomas Prenn (Die Mittagsfrau, Deutsches Haus). It centres on an investigation into the death of a woman killed during an alleged robbery. Her husband claims to be innocent but a police detective remains suspicious and keeps digging.

Also new is the second season of coproduced murder mystery Recipes for Love & Murder, based on the series of novels by best-selling South African author Sally Andrew.

S2 (8×50’) is produced by Both Worlds Pictures in coproduction with Acorn and M-Net and in association with Paradoxal. Filming takes place in South Africa and Scotland and the series stars Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander) and Tony Kgoroge (Invictus).

Season two picks up when a massive fire engulfs the small town of Eden and triggers a fateful chain of events and a multiple murder investigation, while also exposing dark secrets in the town.

Another newcomer to Global Screen’s slate is S2 of German period anthology drama The Palace, produced by MOOVIE, Constantin Film and ZDF and set in the famous Palace Theatre in Berlin. The new episodes focus on a battle to save the theatre by ballet director Regina Feldmann and a trio of young dancers during a period of crisis and transformation that begins a year after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Global Screen joined pan-European production and distribution studio group Vuelta earlier this year following the acquisition of its parent company, Telepool, by Vuelta.
