Jewel Staite and Victor Garber in Family Law

Toronto-based Global Television, the entertainment channel owned by Corus Entertainment, has renewed legal drama Family Law for a second season and thriller Departure for a third run.

Produced by Seven24 Films and Lark Productions and created by Canadian author Susin Nielsen, Family Law follows recovering alcoholic lawyer Abby Bianchi (Jewel Staite) as she takes a job at her father’s law firm.

Season three of Departure, produced by Shaftesbury Films, will follow the aftermath of a deadly ferry accident.
