Gigglebug Entertainment appoints Lorna Withrington as head of development

Finnish animation company Gigglebug Entertainment has appointed Lorna Withrington as head of development.

Toronto-based Withrington was most recently working as a children’s media consultant, having previously worked in development roles at WildBrain, from 2021 to 2023, and Spin Master Entertainment, from 2018 to 2021.

She began her career as a production manager at HIT Entertainment in the UK in 2006, before becoming an acquisitions exec at Entertainment One (eOne) in 2012. While at eOne, Withrington relocated to Canada and moved into a creative affairs role, before leaving in 2018.

Gigglebug said Withrington’s appointment follows “a series of successful collaborations on multiple projects over the past year, which fostered a natural creative synergy with the team.”

Gigglebug is headquartered in Helsinki but, as C21 revealed last month, recently opened a studio on the Canary Islands.

Withrington’s base in Canada now gives the company, behind toons including The Unstoppable Yellow Yeti, a physical presence in North America.
