Get Me Out Productions and Hyde Park Entertainment limber up for two ultra running docs

US unscripted prodcos Get Me Out Productions and Hyde Park Entertainment have teamed up to produce two documentary projects about the extreme sport of ultra running.

Hali Anastopoulo

The first project, Ultra, is a docuseries following ultra runners as they compete in races of 100 miles and more, often for days on end, without sleep and in the harsh conditions of the deserts and mountains.

The second project, Where are the Kenyans?, is developed by Hyde Park Entertainment and Adharanand Finn, author of the books Running with the Kenyans and The Rise of the Ultra Runners. The show will follow a small, elite team of Kenyan runners and their Swiss manager as they train for the gruelling UTMB (Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc). Both projects are in pre-production.

Hyde Park Entertainment Group is led by chairman and CEO Ashok Amritraj, the former CEO of National Geographic Films. Get Me Out Productions, meanwhile, was founded by Hali Anastopoulo and Akim Anastopoulo.

Amritraj, a former professional tennis player, recently announced Hyde Park Entertainment Group’s acquisition of the Delhi franchise in the World Pickleball League.

He said: “Sport has been an important part of my life and ultra running and its athletes have always fascinated and impressed me. The expansion of Hyde Park’s slate into premium sports content is a major vertical of our current strategy, so I’m delighted to be working with Hali and her wonderful team at Get Me Out on these two unique projects.”

The deal was orchestrated by Hyde Park International president Carl Clifton and Lauren Fisher for Get Me Out.

Clifton, an avid long-distance runner, previously worked on Oscar-winning documentaries The Cove, Man on Wire and When We Were Kings. Fisher was formerly VP of worldwide acquisitions at Paramount Global and VP of acquisitions and coproductions at CBS Films.
