Gervais sells HBO Short

HBO will broadcast the latest comedy series from Ricky Gervais and Steven Merchant in the US.

Gervais and Merchant are writing and producing observational comedy Life’s Too Short, starring dwarf actor Warwick Davis, for BBC2 in the UK, where it is due to air in the autumn.

HBO has now confirmed that it will air the series in 2012.

Life’s Too Short follows the day-to-day life of Davis, star of box office hits including Star Wars, Willow and Harry Potter.

The show is written by Gervais and fellow creator of The Office and Extras, Merchant, both of whom will appear on screen in minor roles.

Guest stars including Johnny Depp and Sting have already been confirmed for the show.
