Germany’s ProSieben plays hide and seek with celebrity version of The Hunt

German free-to-air broadcaster ProSieben has ordered a celebrity version of reality adventure competition format The Hunt (working title).

Tim Gerhartz

Scheduled to premiere on ProSieben and ProSiebenSat.1 Media-owned streamer Joyn in 2026, the unscripted series will be produced by Redseven Entertainment, which is also part of ProSiebenSat.1 Media, and GroupM Motion Entertainment.

The non-celebrity version of The Hunt was first commissioned by UK pubcaster Channel 4. Based on an original idea by Redseven, it is produced by Seven. One Studios-owned CPL Productions (Married at First Sight UK) and GroupM Motion Entertainment in the UK.

The Hunt sees contestants dropped in a huge forest, where they must navigate a real-world game of hide and seek – where losing means walking away with nothing and winning could mean pocketing up to £100,000 (US$137,000).

Tim Gerhartz, MD of distributor Seven. One Studios International, described the format as an “ambitious, high-concept new reality show.”

“It is generating a lot of interest among our clients and we are looking forward to giving them a first look at both versions at Mipcom.”
