Germany’s Pantaleon draws up Plan B

KOTV’s French-Canadian drama Plan B

German producer Pantaleon Films has bought the local remake rights to French-Canadian drama series Plan B.

Pantaleon, which was founded by German actor producer and director Matthias Schweighöfer (Valkyrie), picked up the rights from distributor Aroma TV, which shops content from the show’s Canadian producer, KOTV, worldwide.

Plan B has been greenlit for a second season which will air on Quebec-based public broadcaster Ici Radio Canada next year. Season one performed strongly on pay TV network Séries Plus.

The show, whose protagonist has the ability to go back in time to alter events, won the Best Francophone Drama award at the 2017 La Rochelle Festival.

An as-yet unnamed French prodco has also purchased rights to the format, and Aroma TV has had expressions of interest from Russia, Spain and the US.

Founded in 2011 with the movie What a Man, Pantaleon is a subsidiary of Pantaflix, headed by CEO Dan Maag, and has offices in Munich, Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt.

In 2017, Schweighöfer directed and starred in You Are Wanted, the first German production to be picked up by Amazon. The show was also recently greenlit for a second season.
