Last Cop wakes up in France

France’s TF1 will air a local version of German crime series The Last Cop after picking up the format rights from distributor Red Arrow International.

The show, titled Falco in France, is about a policeman in the 1980s who falls into a coma and wakes up 17 years later.

The new version, produced by Beaubourg Audiovisuel, will premiere at 20.50 (CET) on June 20.

“The idea of a macho cop who suddenly wakes up after 20 years in a coma and clashes with modern times – and methods – perfectly fits the worldwide retro trend,” said Aline Avedikian, regional sales manager for France at Germany’s Red Arrow.

With shares of up to 181% above channel average and a fifth season commissioned, The Last Cop was one of the most successful series for Red Arrow sibling Sat.1 in Germany.

Last month, it was revealed that a local version of The Last Cop was on Red Arrow’s slate in the US.

Red Arrow-backed Fabrik Entertainment (fka Fuse Entertainment) and Fox Television Studios are producing the series for cablenet TNT. Sylvester Stallone is among the executive producers, alongside Kevin King, Mikkel Bondesen, Henrik Bastin and writer Chris Fedak. Kristen Campo is acting as co-executive producer.
