Genre-specific channels in CEE shop for lifestyle, food and travel programmes

Channel 4 lifestyle series A New Life in the Sun

Food and travel series including Channel 4’s A New Life in the Sun have been acquired by broadcasters across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

Antenna Entertainment has bought seasons one and two (50×60′) of True North production A New Life in the Sun for its AXA Spin channels in Poland, Romania and around the Adriatic.

In Poland, it has also taken S7-8 of Château DIY (70×60′), another Channel 4 show, made by Spark Media Partners.

Canal+ in Poland has acquired several food and travel series fronted by celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott and made by Rock Oyster Media Productions for ITV in the UK, including Ainsley’s Taste of Malta (5×60′) and Ainsley’s Fantastic Flavours (12×60′).

The broadcaster has also acquired season two of Château DIY for its Canal+ Domo channel in Poland.

Tanweer in Greece has bought Rock Oyster Media Productions/ITV titles including Ainsley’s Taste of Malta, Ainsley’s Fantastic Flavours, Jason Atherton’s Dubai Dishes (10×60′), Jimmy & Shivi’s Farmhouse Breakfast (11×60′) and Dermot’s Taste of Ireland (5×60′).

Lucy Rawson, VP sales for Benelux, CEE and Southern Mediterranean at Cineflix Rights, said: “The continued growth of the CEE market, with new platform launches and genre-specific channels, is providing a lot of opportunities, especially for lifestyle content.”

Elsewhere, Czech TV has acquired Commando Missions (4×60′), which is produced by Galaxie Presse for Canal+ in France and recounts daring Allied top-secret operations behind enemy lines during the Second World War.
