Garden’s Audience travels down under

Australia’s Network Ten has become the latest broadcaster to pick up UK format The Audience from ITV Studios and indie The Garden.

An Australian version of the reality series will be produced by ITV Studios-owned Granada Media Australia.

The series, which does not yet have an air date, will be executive produced by Granada Media’s Rod Parker, who has just joined the company as head of factual from Cineflix in Canada.

The Audience was created by Nick Curwin and Magnus Temple at London-based The Garden for the UK’s Channel 4.

The format sees an individual with a problem or life-changing decision to make open up their lives to a panel of 50 strangers who follow them for a week and speak with their friends and family before advising on what to do.

ITV Studios Global Entertainment has a first-look deal with The Garden and holds international distribution rights for The Audience. Australia has become the fifth country to take the format, following the US (CBS), France (TF1), the Netherlands (RTL4) and the UK (C4).
