FYI engages with Married spin-off

US cablenet FYI has ordered a follow-up series to its Married at First Sight format, following one of the couples who remained together after the show.

Married at First Sight was one of the first original commissions for the A+E Networks-owned channel and has since been greenlit for a second season to air in 2015.

The show, based on a Danish format and produced by Kinetic Content, matches three couples according to their interests who then get married on their very first meeting. After a period of living together they must decide whether to continue with the marriage or divorce each other.

Now FYI has greenlit Married at First Sight: The First Year, following two couples – Jason Carrion and Cortney Hendrix; and Doug Hehner and Jamie Otis – who decided to remain married at the end of the first season.

The 8×60’ series is being exec produced by Chris Coelen and Sam Dean for Kinetic Content, and FYI’s Gena McCarthy and Liz Fine.

FYI launched in the US earlier this summer, replacing A+E Networks’ Bio channel. It is run by Jana Bennett, former president of BBC Worldwide Networks.
