FX orders more New York Times documentaries

Disney-owned US cablenet FX has ordered more feature documentaries from the production arm of newspaper The New York Times (NYT) as part of an ongoing agreement between the two companies.

The films will be released under the New York Times Presents banner, which comprises a selection of feature docs from journalists and investigators at the NYT.

Among the latest docs coming to FX from the partnership is Move Fast & Vape Things, which focuses on vape company Juul. NYT titles that have already appeared on FX include Framing Britney Spears and The Killing of Breonna Taylor.

The New York Times Presents content is produced by the NYT and Left/Right, a Red Arrow Studios company. The executive producers are Ken Druckerman, Banks Tarver, Mary Robertson, Jason Stallman, Sam Dolnick and Stephanie Preiss.

FX and Disney-owned streamer Hulu, on which FX’s content appears, partnered with the NYT last year to follow up on FX’s previous collaboration with the newspaper, The Weekly.

Stallman said: “The New York Times is thrilled to continue our partnership with FX. Their savvy, creative team has been invaluable in helping our newsroom expand its documentary ambitions. Our goals and mission are aligned in creating films that are truly distinctive, surprising viewers with new perspectives and bringing them stories that have impact across the world.”
