Fridge Wars declared across Europe

Fridge Wars was co-created by The Gurin Company and the CBC

Mediawan-owned Aito Media in Finland, France’s WeMake, Poland’s Rochstar and Endemol Shine Germany have picked up the remake rights to Canadian format Fridge Wars.

UK distributor Magnify Media sells the format outside of North America, where the show debuted on Canadian pubcaster the CBC in 2020 before being picked up for a US version on The CW.

The format sees top chefs battle to impress a family by making meals purely from what they have in their fridge at home. The Canadian original is a coproduction between the CBC and US-based The Gurin Company.

Phil Gurin, president and CEO of The Gurin Company, said: “It’s a fun and fresh approach to a light-hearted food competition with an enormous takeaway. With a unique format where the families themselves judge what the chefs have made with their leftovers, we think this show has universal appeal for anyone who eats.”
