Fremantle Spain promotes Mario Briongos to CEO as part of restructure

Fremantle Spain entertainment chief Mario Briongos has been promoted to CEO, overseeing the European production group’s entertainment, documentary and factual, and fiction businesses in the country.

The move follows Nathalie García‘s resignation as CEO of Fremantle Spain last October. At the time, Jaime Ondarza, CEO of Fremantle in Southern Europe, was appointed interim CEO and Briongos became general director of entertainment, reporting to Ondarza.

After beginning his career at Zeppelin, working on formats such as Big Brother, Briongos made the leap to EuroTV Producciones as entertainment director.

Later he joined Fremantle Spain, a production company where he accumulated a decade of experience as entertainment director and later as general entertainment director.

The appointment is part of a restructure that will see the whole Fremantle Spain operation report to Briongos.

In the entertainment division, Belén Martín and Daniel Grande are named executive producers and will continue working on formats such as Got Talent, X Factor and Masked Singer.

In turn, Algerino Marroncelli will continue as creative director, responsible for internationally successful formats such as Adivina qué Hago (Game of Talents), also reporting to Briongos.

The team at En Cero Coma, a Fremantle label specialising in the documentary and factual genre, which has Fernando Jerez as general director, will also now report into him.

In drama, José Skaf continues as fiction director, reporting to Briongos.

Andrea Scrosati, group COO and CEO Continental Europe, Fremantle, said: “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mario Briongos as CEO of Fremantle Spain. Mario has been at Fremantle since 2014 and this new position is the result of the brilliant work that he has developed both in the company and within the Spanish entertainment market.”

Briongos added: “I am very grateful to Andrea Scrosati and above all to the Fremantle Spain team, without whom it would not have been possible to get here. I begin this stage with great enthusiasm, wanting to continue producing high-quality content and consolidating Fremantle as one of the leading production companies in the audiovisual sector in this country.”
