Fremantle promotes Andrea Scrosati to CEO for continental Europe

European production group Fremantle has expanded the role of group chief operating officer Andrea Scrosati to include CEO in continental Europe.

Reporting to group CEO Jennifer Mullin, Scrosati will now add responsibility for Fremantle’s businesses in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Nordics and Poland.

These markets join Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and Israel, where execs there already report to Scrosati.

Scrosati will continue to oversee Fremantle global drama, group mergers and acquisitions, strategy, marketing and communications, as well as the newly established global documentaries unit.

In August, Fremantle parent company RTL Group said it is looking to grow the production and distribution group via M&A whilst expanding further into factual programming and documentaries.

Prior to joining Fremantle in September 2018, Scrosati was executive VP of programming for Sky Italia, where he oversaw non-sports programming and original production, including Fremantle dramas Gomorrah and The Young Pope.

Mullin said: “We have an exciting and ambitious growth plan in place to capitalise on the enormous global appetite for great content across all genres, platforms and regions.

“This is an extremely exciting time for all at Fremantle and the organisational changes outlined mean that we are well poised to respond to the many opportunities that await us.”

This week Fremantle appointed former Channel 4 and BBC executive Babita Bahal to the newly created role of group head of diversity, equity and inclusion, while earlier this month it sold its mobile video game company Ludia to US mobile entertainment company Jam City.
