Fremantle names Somers as CFO, van der Hoek chief of commercial & legal affairs

RTL-owned European production group Fremantle has named Marijke Somers as chief financial officer, with Manon van der Hoek promoted to the role of chief commercial and legal affairs for Northern Europe.

Both Somers and van der Hoek will report to Georgette Schlick, CEO of Northern Europe.

In her new role, van der Hoek will be responsible for all commercial and legal matters of the various Fremantle labels in Northern Europe.

She has been at Fremantle since 2017, joining as director of business and legal affairs before being elevated to chief commercial and legal officer Fremantle NL & BE.

Prior to that, van der Hoek held positions at Endemol Shine Group and Warner Bros International Television Production.

Somers, meanwhile, has been with Fremantle since March 2023, as interim CFO for the Nordics and Poland.

She will now be responsible for all countries in Northern Europe, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Poland.

Before joining Fremantle, Marijke workied as a registered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and held various financial and strategic positions at Phillips-Van Heusen, WE Fashion and RTL Nederland.

At RTL Nederland she directed the finance team in the role of manager finance and control.
