Fremantle-owned Monster in Norway has appointed Agnete Thuland as MD following the departure of Eva Rolland Korshamn.
Thuland joins Monster from fellow Fremantle-owned outfit Strix Television, where she has been chief operating officer since the beginning of 2023.
She brings more than 20 years of experience from Norwegian and international television production, and has held key leadership roles within the media industry, including production stints at Rubicon TV and broadcaster NRK.
Her experience spans a wide range of genres, including entertainment, reality, documentary and drama series.
Following Thuland’s move over to Monster, Strix’s head of human resources Cecilie Sjølett will be made chief operating officer at the company.
Thuland’s appointment follows the departure of Rolland Korshamn, who has stepped down from her role at Monster after more than 22 years.
Fremantle said Rolland Korshamn had been a central part of Monster since she joined and during her tenure has played a key role in developing, producing and leading a broad slate of its most high-profile and award-winning productions, contributing significantly to the company’s creative and commercial success.
In 2018, Rolland Korshamn was appointed head of non-scripted, and for the past two years has served as the senior leader of Monster, with overall responsibility for both the scripted and non-scripted businesses.
Fremantle last year reorganised its Norwegian labels Monster Scripted and Miso Film Norway, combining the scripted arms of both into one company leaving Monster to focus exclusively on unscripted.
Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Oslo, Monster is known for productions such as A-Laget, Stjernekamp and Maskorama.
Thuland said: “Monster is a company full of highly skilled people with strong ambitions, and I look forward to building on what has already been created together with the team there.
“Despite some challenging years I am confident that together we will position Monster where it belongs: as Norway’s most attractive production company, for both broadcasters and employees.”
Rolland Korshamn said: “In recent years, my focus as a leader has been on driving necessary organisational change and building a leaner, more resilient company for long-term sustainability in a demanding television market. I am confident Monster is well positioned to build further on the strong foundation that has been created, and I look forward to following the company’s continued development from the sidelines.”
Georgette Schlick, Fremantle CEO for Northern Europe, added: “With over 14 years at Strix, Agnete has the knowledge and experience to take on this position, and I look forward to working with her as we focus on the growth of Monster in Norway, with a clear content focus, a strong positioning and a futureproof efficient production approach.
“I would also like to say a huge thank you to Eva for all her hard work and achievements across her 22-year tenure at Monster, and I wish her all the best for the future.”
