Australia-based distributor Fred Media has picked up global rights to over 300 hours of content from US cablenet The Africa Channel and food-themed online brand Tastemade.

The Africa Channel shows are culinary series Africa on a Plate (26×30’), May’s Kitchen (13×30’) and Minjiba Entertains (6×30’); travel series World Wide Nate (13×30’); and standalone documentary Forgiveness: The Project Ubumwe Story (1×30’).

The distributor has also taken 20 food-focused series from Tastemade, totalling more than 80 hours. These include Behind the Dish (13×30’), Sourced (6×30’), Day of Gluttony (10×30’) and Origins (8×30’).

Roger Vanderspikken, chief operating officer at Fred Media, said: “African content has come into the international spotlight recently and titles such as ours will help further demonstrate the high-quality, exciting programming being produced in, and about, this colourful continent.

“Tastemade has a reputation for showcasing new chefs, new foodie destinations and all the latest food trends. So we are proud to be able to bring its innovative programming to the attention of broadcasters worldwide.”
