France’s TF1, Italy’s Rai tell Tulipop Tales in acquisition of Icelandic preschool series

Tulipop Tales from Iceland’s Tulipop Studios

French commercial broadcaster TF1 and Italian pubcaster Rai have acquired animated preschool series Tulipop Tales from Iceland’s Tulipop Studios.

Rai has acquired the 52×7’ series for its Rai Yoyo channel and Rai Play platform, through Tulipop’s Italian partner The Animation Band. TF1 has bought the series for its TFou Max streaming service.

Additionally, Norway’s NRK has picked up a further 26 episodes of the series, having already acquired the first 26.

Tulipop Tales is based on a lifestyle brand created by illustrator Signý Kolbeinsdóttir in 2010. The series aims to teach kids important life lessons through engaging and entertaining adventures.

Inspired by Icelandic folklore, it is set in a magical island forest and features a diverse mix of characters including a curious mushroom girl, a naive monster and an intelligent tree.

The series already airs on Síminn in Iceland, YLE in Finland, MBC in the Middle East, Canal+ in Poland, Tele-Québec in Canada and Showmax in South Africa. Earlier this year, NRK, RÚV in Iceland, SVT in Sweden, DR in Denmark and Svenska YLE in Finland commissioned the production of three TV specials.
