France’s Oble TV to adapt French-Canadian drama format The Sketch Artist

The Sketch Artist launched on SVoD service Club illico

Paris-based producer and distributor Oble TV has acquired the rights to adapt French-Canadian crime series The Sketch Artist in France.

The French-language thriller, which is produced by Montreal’s Also Productions and distributed by Attraction Distribution, tells the story of a young forensic sketch artist.

The deal follows a season-two renewal and a number of international sales for the original iteration of the series. The first run (10×44’) was acquired by SBS (Australia), Lumiere (Benelux), BookMyShow (India), Globo (Brazil) and GSN (Scandinavia).

The series, co-created and co-directed by Alexis Durand-Brault, launched on French-language SVoD service Club illico in spring 2021 and began airing on linear network TVA at the beginning of 2022.

Also Productions is led by Sophie Lorain and Alexis-Durand-Brault, who serve as producers on the The Sketch Artist.
