France’s M6 commissions second season of My Cake is the Nation’s Best

My Cake is the Nation’s Best

French broadcaster M6 has commissioned a second season of local format My Cake is the Nation’s Best, to air during the second quarter of 2022.

The show is made for M6 by StoryPlus-owned Kitchen Factory Production, which is also behind the French version of The Great British Bake Off. London-based sales house Can’t Stop Media distributes the format.

In the format, hundreds of bakers compete to have their cake declared the best in France, with the production travelling around the country to host local auditions in a similar vein to music competition format Idol.

Deals have already been done for local adaptations in Germany, to be made by Beta Film-owned prodco Seapoint, and Italy, where global prodco Banijay is developing the show.

The show was initially called King of Cakes before being reformatted as My Cake is the Nation’s Best as a result of the decision to have the show travel all over the country, meaning the forthcoming season will technically be its fifth.
