Foxtel puts UK drama first in extended multi-year content deal with Sony Pictures TV

Australian pay TV outfit Foxtel has renegotiated its multi-year content agreement with Sony Pictures Television (SPT), giving its streaming platform Binge exclusive access to premium first-run UK dramas.

The renewed deal extends a 20-year content alliance between Foxtel and SPT.

“We have a long and special history with Foxtel Group in Australia, and we’re delighted to be building on our 20-plus-year relationship with them. We’re so pleased that they continue to be the home of some of Sony Pictures’ most beloved movies and television series that will engage and entertain Australian viewers,” said Adam Herr, SPT’s senior VP of distribution for Asia Pacific.

As well as Binge, the Sony agreement extends to Foxtel subscribers and will cover new exclusive UK releases in 2026, such as Left Bank Pictures’ new series The Lady, starring Natalie Dormer, football drama Dear England, starring Joseph Fiennes, and 10-part series The Other Bennet Sister from Bad Wolf.

The content deal also includes complete seasons of Community, The Nanny, Dawson’s Creek, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Married… with Children, Mad About You, Just Shoot Me, The Big C, The Shield, Justified, Damages, Hannibal, The Good Doctor and Mr Mercedes.

The deal renewal comes a week after rival Australian streaming platform Stan extended its pact with SPT for first-run US scripted drama series, which was initially brokered 10 years ago.
