Fox TV debuts Turkish version of BBC drama Mistresses via prodco Medyapım

Turkish version of Mistresses, Yalancılar ve Mumları

Free-to-air Turkish net Fox TV has debuted a local version of BBC drama Mistresses following a deal with local prodco Medyapım.

Mistresses, originally coproduced by Ecosse Television for BBC1 in the UK and BBC America, has been remade by Medyapım under the title Yalancılar ve Mumları via a format pact with distributor BBC Studios.

The 13-part series kicked off this week and follows the story of a group of 30-something friends who met at university but whose lives and love lives have taken very different turns.

Turkey is the sixth market to license the Mistresses format after the US, Russia, Slovakia, South Korea and Japan and is the latest such deal for BBC Studios in the territory.

Meanwhile, Kanal D’s remake of Mike Bartlett and Drama Republic’s Doctor Foster has been recommissioned for a second season and the Turkish adaptation of The Split – from Abi Morgan and Sister – will air this October on Fox TV.
