Fox orders animated comedy series Grimsburg starring Jon Hamm

Animated comedy Grimsburg

US broadcast network Fox has given the greenlight to an animated comedy series starring and executive produced by Jon Hamm.

Grimsburg, which centres on a misanthropic detective, is produced by Fox Entertainment’s animation studio Bento Box Entertainment and will premiere in 2023.

Created by Catlan McClelland and Matthew Schlissel, the show sees Hamm play Marvin Flute – a fine detective who easily cracks complex cases but struggles to solve one mystery: his family.

“As we continue to expand our animation brand beyond family comedies, Grimburg’s wildly funny, bizarre and inventive take on the crime genre makes it the perfect next generation Fox comedy,” said Michael Thorn, president of entertainment, Fox Entertainment.

Executive producing the series alongside Hamm, who is best known for playing Don Draper in AMC drama Mad Men, are Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady of The Jackal Group, Connie Tavel and showrunner Chadd Gindin. McClelland and Schlissel serve as co-executive producers.

Fox Entertainment’s slate of scripted content includes Krapopolis, an animated comedy created by Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty, Community) and set in mythical ancient Greece, and country music-themed family drama Monarch, starring Susan Sarandon, Anna Friel and Trace Adkin.
