Carson is both the writer and executive producer of the project, which is being developed for the Fox Television Network in the US. Fox Entertainment Global will handle worldwide distribution.

The series is executive produced by Lawrence Bender (Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds), Kevin Brown (Flesh & Bone) and Australian actor Hugh Jackman.

Billionaire Apocalypse centres on the world’s richest man, along with 200 of his employees and his family, who are forced to flee to his private island after a global financial collapse. However, without his wealth, the once-powerful billionaire finds that the employees and family members he has treated as poorly for years are no longer willing to follow his lead.

Carson is known for creating and writing The Morning Show (Apple TV+), which stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. He also served as a supervising producer on Netflix’s House of Cards. Fox Entertainment noted that he is currently working on multiple other series and films, including an hour-long drama starring Judith Light, a feature film starring and directed by Josh Brolin, and another project with Jackman.

Fernando Szew, president and head of Fox Entertainment Studios, unveiled the series as Mipcom kicked off in Cannes this morning.
