Starting immediately, he is tasked with scaling the outfit’s international footprint and strategic partnerships with rights holders. He replaces Peter Angell, who left earlier this year.

Sunset+Vine said the hire reinforces its commitment to staying ahead in an evolving sports media landscape and pivoting towards becoming a digital-first, multi-platform media business.

East joins from Buzz 16, the UK sports prodco co-founded by Gary Neville, where he was MD and more recently executive director. There he oversaw strategy and production output, driving revenue growth across sport and lifestyle sectors.

Prior to that, he spent two decades at Sky Sports, rising to director of creative output. During his tenure, he helped shape the network’s identity and led production teams for coverage of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

Sunset+Vine is headquartered in London, with regional offices in Los Angeles, Glasgow, Cardiff and Milan. The company’s slate includes Champions League football and tennis for Prime Video, the Crufts International Dog Show for Channel 4 and World Snooker Championships for the BBC.

East said: “Sunset+Vine has an impeccable reputation for excellence in live sport, and I am honoured to lead the team during such a transformative time for the industry.

“There is immense potential to expand our footprint into new formats and platforms while maintaining the world-class production standards to which our partners have become accustomed during the company’s more than three decades of industry leadership. I look forward to building on this incredible foundation.”

Jeff Foulser, chairman of Sunset+Vine, said, “We have built a business over many years that has been trusted and favoured by broadcasters, rights holders and sports federations and I am really excited by Duncan’s passion and drive to maintain and grow our reputation as an innovator in the modern world.”
