Former Bell Media exec Mitch Geddes takes development role at Neshama

Toronto-based production company Neshama Entertainment has named former Bell Media executive Mitch Geddes as its new senior director of development and current productions.

In his new role, Geddes, whose departure from the Canadian broadcast group was announced last week, will be charged with sourcing original IP and managing Neshama’s slate of films and series from script development through to physical production.

During his time with Bell Media, Geddes served as a production executive, overseeing development and production of several scripted series, including medical drama Transplant, comedy Letterkenny and drama Little Bird.

Neshama, led by CEO and co-founder Arnie Zipursky, has specialised in developing and producing TV movies since it launched in 2018, and more recently has expanded into series.

Fox Entertainment-owned producer-distributor MarVista Entertainment holds a minority stake in Neshama and handles international distribution (except Canada) for content developed and produced under the Neshama banner.

The Neshama-produced hour-long drama The Way Home premiered on Hallmark in the US earlier this year and has been renewed for a second season.

“Mitch’s creative vision and eye for talent will be a wonderful compliment to Neshama’s stellar current development team as we continue to grow the volume of Canadian content film and TV series with writers and filmmakers across the country,” said Zipursky.
