Finland’s Ilkka Hynninen and Eero Hietala start again with Take Two Studios

The founders of Mediawan-owned Finnish prodco Aito Media have set up their own prodco and secured a 10-project copro deal with their former company.

Ilkka Hynninen and Eero Hietala, who stepped down from Aito Media earlier this year, have teamed with Lasse Koskinen to launch Helsinki-based Take Two Studios.

Focusing on drama, documentaries and podcasts, the prodco will begin by working on series that were in development at Aito Media created under Hietala and Hynninen, whose credits span crime, sitcom, drama, comedy, talk shows and children’s titles.

The coproduction pipeline includes crime drama 506 Grams of Ural Snow and Saturday Society, which tells the true story of how courageous reporters jeopardised their careers to prevent the rise of a Soviet-backed alcoholic from becoming the next president of Finland.

Koskinen, who will serve as Take Two Studios’ CEO, has over two decades of experience in the film, games, digital media, advertising and private healthcare businesses.

“After a long, successful stint growing a Finnish generalist production company to exit stage, now in this second chapter of our entrepreneurial careers we have decided to become a strong international specialist in drama and documentary production. We are full of energy and enthusiasm to bring stories we are passionate about to international screens,” said Hynninen and Hietala in a joint statement.
