Finland’s CMore commissions power struggle crime series The Reindeer Mafia

Scandi streamer CMore in Finland has commissioned a crime drama series titled The Reindeer Mafia.

The Reindeer Mafia is coproduced by Finnish production company Kaiho Republic and Norwegian drama producer Rein Film and written and directed by Mika Kurvinen.

The 8×42’ crime saga, which stars Samuli Edelmann (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, The Girl King), Mikael Persbrandt (Sex Education, The Hobbit) and Anna-Maija Tuokko (Master Cheng, Bordertown), is produced by Pete Eklund, Liisa Penttilä-Asikainen and Mathis Ståle Mathisen.

LA-based producer and distributor Dynamic Television handles the international rights to the series, which tells the story of a power struggle between members of a family that control the local businesses and own vast areas of surrounding land.

Production for The Reindeer Mafia will begin in Finland in January, with the series expecting to premiere in early 2023.
