FilmRise to take National Black Television Media content onto streaming

Arnold’s Caribbean Pizza

Distributor and digital channels operator FilmRise has acquired exclusive rights in all media to more than 200 hours of content from National Black Television Media’s library in the US.

The deal includes 331 episodes across 14 series, including Love That Girl, Arnold’s Caribbean Pizza and Talk It Up, plus the films Cop & a Badman, Gangsta’s Paradise and Rude Boy the Jamaican Don.

Negotiated by Katherine Weinstein, manager of acquisitions for FilmRise, and Trenten Gumbs and Steven E Bullock for National Black Television Media, the deal covers territories including the US, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

It will see content from National Black Television Media, a US television channel targeting African American audiences, brought to linear, transactional VoD, subscription VoD and ad-supported VoD platforms, as well as free, ad-supported, streaming TV channels.

Max Einhorn, senior VP of acquisitions and coproductions for FilmRise, said: “This deal with National Black Television Media significantly adds to our free offering of Black-led content.”
