FilmRise partners Bright North Studios to coproduce festive true crime series fronted by Nancy Grace

The Christmas Killings Hosted by Nancy Grace follows Grace’s Bloodline Detectives
US film and TV studio and streaming network FilmRise is coproducing a festive-themed true crime series with RedBird IMI-owned Canadian firm Bright North Studios.
The Christmas Killings Hosted by Nancy Grace (12×60′) marks New York City-based FilmRise’s second original series with former prosecutor and victims’ rights advocate Grace following Bloodline Detectives, which is now in its fifth season.
It will see Grace guide viewers through chilling crimes that shattered the holiday season, from Thanksgiving through to the new year, turning moments of joy into sorrow.
FilmRise is coproducing the series alongside Shawn Efran and Mary Bissel of Bright North Studios, which was previously known as Efran Films prior to its takeover by Jeff Zucker’s media investment firm last year.
The deal was negotiated by Jonitha Keymoore, head of content for FilmRise, and Efran and Azadeh de Leon for Bright North Studios.
It is the second recently announced true crime series from FilmRise, which has partnered with UK-based factual entertainment and non-scripted specialist Phoenix Television on Millionaire Murders (10×60′).
Each episode depicts a murder case where either the killer or the victim was wealthy. The series features two cases from the UK and eight from the US.
The deal was negotiated by Katie Carroll, senior manager, coproductions for FilmRise, and Jonathan Ford, MD for Abacus Media Rights.
In related news, FilmRise has expanded its licensing agreement with GRB Media Ranch for the series Untold Stories of the ER.
FilmRise will pick up three additional seasons of the series as well as 12 hour-long specials, taking digital distribution rights in all languages in all English-speaking territories. The deal was negotiated by FilmRise’s Keymoore and Sophie Ferron, president of GRB Media Ranch.
The show explores how a doctor’s personal blend of expertise and decision-making is challenged by the unpredictable circumstances of emergencies and intense pressure when every moment can be a turning point.
