FilmRise, First LookTV pair for docuseries

MIPTV: US prodco and streamer FilmRise is collaborating with UK prodco FirstLookTV for the first time on a new true crime docuseries.

Meet, Marry, Murder is a 13-episode look at love stories that eventually led to homicide. Announced at this week’s digital version of MipTV, the show is hosted by Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Michelle Trachtenberg, who also exec produces.

FirstLookTV founder and creative director Will Hanrahan and director Gillian Carter also exec produce, alongside FilmRise CEO Danny Fisher and senior VP of acquisitions and coproductions Max Einhorn.

Amcomri-owned Abacus Media Rights is the global distributor of the series outside of North America, where FilmRise will display the show on its own platform as well as shopping it to third-party TV, AVoD and SVoD services.

Meet, Marry, Murder is FilmRise’s second true crime series after 2020’s Bloodline Detectives With Nancy Grace. FirstLookTV has more experience in the genre, being known for series like Killer Britain with Dermot Murnaghan and Evil Up Close, now in its sixth season. The UK prodco assembled a panel of experts in 2019 to help bring additional realism to its true crime content.
