FilmRise acquires children’s shows including Barney & Friends, Angelina Ballerina

Barney & Friends first aired in 1992

New York-based studio and streamer FilmRise has licensed a slate of classic children’s shows for its North American AVoD platform FilmRise Streaming Network.

Seasons 10-14 of classic show Barney & Friends, 1-4 of UK animation Angelina Ballerina and 1-3 of summer camp drama Camp Lakebottom have all been acquired in non-exclusive deals with kids’ distributor 9 Story Media Group.

Earlier this year, FilmRise picked up more than 800 hours of content from kids’ prodco Nelvana for distribution on VoD platforms across North America and Europe.

The company has been operating in the AVoD space since the beginning of the year and has channels on global services Roku and Pluto TV.

FilmRise CEO Danny Fisher said: “These popular children’s programmes fit perfectly into our strategy of increasing our market share within the children’s/family space. Audiences have an enduring appetite for these established, recognisable family-friendly TV series for kids, and we are pleased to offer them to new generations of children with no fee to their parents.”
