FilmBox launches Turkish drama net

MIPCOM: Polish broadcaster and distributor SPI International/FilmBox has launched a TV network devoted to Turkish drama series and movies.

Timeless Drama Channel (TDC) features series such as Kurt Seyit & Sura, The Uncle in Black, 20 Minutes and The End.

Berk Uziyel, CEO of SPI/Filmbox, said the launch was instigated by rising demand for Turkish drama in Central and Eastern Europe, South Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Broadcasting in HD, TDC is available for distribution on DTH platforms, cable networks, mobile and smart TVs as well as OTT services around the world, SPI International/FilmBox said.

In related news, SPI has signed an agreement with French digital distribution and content aggregation outfit Alchimie to bring its channels to Belgium and Spain from this month and December, respectively.

The channels covered in the agreement are FightBox, DocuBox, FilmBox Art House and FashionBox.

It has also extended channel distribution to Portuguese pay TV operator NOWO, which will now feature DocuBox HD, FilmBox Art House, Fast&FunBox HD and FashionBox HD.
