Fox International Channels (FIC) has appointed an executive from Indian broadcaster Zee Entertainment to oversee its pay TV business in Africa.

Siriah: replacing Bekker

As general manager, FIC Africa, Ratna Siriah takes charge of FIC’s channels in Sub-Saharan Africa, which include Fox, National Geographic, FX, Fox Sports, Nat Geo Wild and Baby TV.

Siriah replaces Hannelie Bekker, who left FIC in March this year after a short stint with the company, having joined in November 2014.

She will report to Adam Theiler, executive VP, FIC in the UK, Nordics, Turkey and Africa in the Johannesburg-based role.

Theiler said the appointment would help FIC grow its portfolio and extend its reach across the continent.

Siriah has spent the past three years at Zee World, as head of business in Africa for the Indian-African television channel.

The hire comes as FIC reshuffles its management team in Italy with the imminent departure of MD Fabrizio Salini.

Former Sky Italia exec Kathryn Fink has been named as Salini’s replacement, and will take up the post on January 1, 2016.
