Station 6 Productions, the New York-based unscripted prodco recently launched by former Lion US CEO Tony Tackaberry, has hired Sara Winter as VP of development.

Winter marks the first major hire for Station 6, which launched in June to focus on unscripted series, premium documentaries, and formats.

In her role, Winter will create new and original series and specials for broadcast networks and streaming platforms.

Boasting nearly a decade of unscripted experience, she previously worked as development producer at Lion Television US on various projects including forthcoming Menendez Brothers: Misjudged? for Investigation Discovery (ID).

Prior to Lion, Winter developed, produced and wrote for Antica Productions and was recognised for her work on NBC podcast Art Bust: Scandalous Stories of the Art World, an investigative anthology podcast that exposes crimes, scandals and grifts within the art scene.

Earlier in her career, Winter held senior development roles at Montreal-based WAM Media Grp, where she led the launch of the US Headquarters, and at Entertainment One, where she developed projects for ID, Discovery, AMC and UPtv.

“Bringing Sara over to Station 6 is an exciting development and one that speaks to the company’s potential. I know her storytelling talents and creative instincts from her time at Lion and I’m delighted they’re now going to be put to great use, helping build Station 6’s dynamic and diverse slate,” said Tackaberry, founder and CEO of Station 6 Productions.

Ahead of launching the firm, Tackaberry formed a first-look deal and broad development and production partnership with Canadian studio and production business, Blue Ant Studios.

The company said it is already in talks with a range of streamers and platforms about several projects, including a partnership with a two-time Academy Award winner as well as a new format built around a leading young influencer.
