Factual execs Corie Henson, Todd Weiser set to leave Warner Bros Discovery

High-profile departures continue to come thick and fast at Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), with senior factual executives Corie Henson and Todd Weiser the latest to go.

Corie Henson

Henson, who serves as executive VP, head of unscripted programming for TBS, TNT and truTV, has been with the company since 2019. She oversaw shows including: Big Trick Energy, Double Cross with Blake Griffin and Fast Foodies for truTV; Shaq Life for TNT; and The Cube and Wipeout for TBS.

Before joining WarnerMedia, Henson was VP of alternative entertainment at Fox, and before that was VP of unscripted at producer Electus.

News of her departure comes a month after it emerged that TNT, TBS and truTV general manager Brett Weitz was leaving.

Meanwhile, Weiser was senior VP, programming and development at Food Network and Cooking Channel. He joined the network in 2013 as VP of programming and development, working on shows including Holiday Baking Championship, Christmas Cookie Challenge and Restaurant: Impossible.

WBD officially formed on April 8 after the merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery closed. A slew of WarnerMedia execs including Jason Kilar and Ann Sarnoff exited in early April. In the time since, there has been a steady stream of high-profile departures, both in North America and internationally.

WBD’s newly installed leadership team, led by president and CEO David Zaslav, has been assessing the merged company and looking for ways to find at least US$3bn in annual savings.

The sweeping layoffs and departures have meant that commissioning decisions at many of the factual networks under WBD have been paused, creating widespread uncertainty for producers about the fate of their development projects.
