Facebook makes Breakthrough with Howes

Social media giant Facebook has commissioned a talkshow from ITV America-owned Leftfield Pictures and music mogul Scooter Braun’s SB Projects for its Watch platform.

Lewis Howes

New York-based Leftfield Pictures and SB Projects have partnered to develop and produce Breakthrough with Lewis Howes, a new format hosted by the New York Times bestselling author and entrepreneur.

Premiering on Facebook Watch later this year in front of a participating studio audience, the series will combine human-interest stories with interviews, covering a wide range of topics such as social equality and financial success. At the end of each episode, Howes will present his thoughts and offer tips and strategies to help guests and Facebook Watch viewers address and solve their problems.

As part of the weekly format, Howes will also present a live episode tackling viewer feedback and questions from the Facebook community on the topic.

Shawn Witt, Gretchen Palek, Jordana Hochman and Rob Dauber will exec produce for Leftfield Pictures alongside SB Projects’ Braun and Scott Manson. Howes will also exec produce the show.

Howes said he was always looking to share content that helped people break through daily challenges, adding that he viewed the Facebook community as the “perfect audience looking for this information.”

The commission follows the recent orders for fellow talkshow Red Table Talks, fronted by actor Jada Pinkett Smith, a Courtney Cox docuseries on pregnancy and NFL star Von Miller’s comedy variety show.

Most recently, the social media firm announced straight-to-series dramedy Widow (working title) starring and exec produced by Hollywood actress Elizabeth Olsen.
