Ex-Quebecor Content exec Yann Paquet to take over as president and CEO of TV5 Québec Canada

French-language public broadcaster TV5 Québec Canada has appointed Yann Paquet as president and CEO.

Yann Paquet

Paquet will succeed Marie-Philippe Bouchard at the helm of the company, which includes the channels TV5 and Unis TV as well as the TV5Unis platform, next month.

Paquet has more than 25 years of experience in the industry, having begun his career as a journalist before quickly turning to innovation management and digital transformation.

At Radio-Canada he was part of the launch team for Radio-Canada/CBC’s Amateur Sports website. He then headed the digital news department for several years before being appointed head of the pubcaster’s digital sector.

He then joined Quebecor Content where he most recently held the position of VP. In this role, he oversaw foreign programme acquisitions and the financing of productions aired on TVA Group’s networks and Videotron’s platforms. He also managed the illico+ platform and the TVA Films and Incendo divisions.

Paquet said: “I deeply believe in the importance of this organisation and the role it must continue to play in our media landscape. In recent years, the rapid rise of global digital giants, the globalisation of content, its barrier-free accessibility and the decline in traditional television audiences have dramatically reshaped the cultural landscape in Quebec, Canada and worldwide.

“In this era of profound changes in content consumption habits, TV5 Québec Canada’s role in the vitality and promotion of French-language culture is more essential than ever. “
