Ex-New Metric exec Alex Lalonde named chief operating officer at Amaze

Toronto-based production company Amaze, which produces series including The Lake for Amazon Prime Video, has hired veteran exec Alex Lalonde as its chief operating officer.

Lalonde, whose previous roles include head of Strategem RX and VP of Letterkenny producer New Metric, will be charged with managing corporate operations, sourcing IP and coproduction opportunities, financing, packaging and sales. She will also be an executive producer on several Amaze projects.

The Canadian prodco also hired Gina Vanni as senior VP of business of affairs, responsible for overseeing finance and business affairs across Amaze’s slate of domestic and service productions.

Vanni was the VP of production finance at Toronto’s Take 5 Productions from 2009 to 2018 before also doing stints at New Metric Media and Strategem RX.

Both execs will be based in Toronto and report to company co-founders Michael Souther and Teza Lawrence.

“Alex and Gina are leaders in global treaty coproduction, commercial coproduction, domestic and service production, and will be an integral part to Amaze’s expansion and growth into broader markets,” said the co-founders.

Amaze is currently in production on season two of Prime Video’s comedy The Lake, which stars Jordan Gavaris, Julia Stiles and Madison Shamoun. The show was the first scripted project commissioned through Amazon’s Canadian team.
