According to an internal memo from the SVoD’s global general manager Josh McIvor, the promotion will see Katzer move to London and start his new position next month.

Reporting to McIvor, Katzer will effectively be general manager for the company’s business outside of North America.

He is charged with taking responsibility for day-to-day operations, long-term strategy, and planning.

Katzer will also work in close partnership with MGM+’s US team, the Prime video channels, distribution, and business development.

Reporting into Katzer will be head of international marketing Andy Chilcott, and senior BI manager Adeline Lassince.

Katzer has been upped from his previous position as SVP of strategic planning and corporate development.

McIver said Katzer “played a key role on Amazon’s acquisition of MGM and helped facilitate the integration over the past year.”

Prior to joining MGM in 2018, Katzer worked for The Walt Disney Company, and audio entertainment specialists Audio Up.

In an internal announcement to MGM staff, McIvor said: “Over the past year, Michael led our agreements and integration of Lionsgate+ into MGM+ in South America and Europe.

“Those deals have resulted in MGM+ becoming the second most subscribed Prime Video Channel outside the U.S.

“But we’re just getting started, and Michael is the ideal leader to evolve MGM+ into a true premium channel across all our priority international regions.”
