Former Beyond Rights executive Sherry Fynbo has launched Last Word Entertainment, a Toronto-based production and distribution outfit focused on investigative storytelling.

Fynbo, whose credits include Drug Lords: The Takedown (Nat Geo), Hunt for the Truth (SBS Australia) and Escobar Exposed (Telemundo/Videotron), is president and executive producer at the new entity.

Joining her are executive producer James Carroll, whose credits include serving as co-executive producer and lead editor on Waco: American Apocalypse (Netflix) and co-directing miniseries Night Stalker (Netflix), and Fiona Crago, also formerly of Beyond Rights, who will lead business strategy.

Last Word Entertainment’s first announced project is Mafia: Most Wanted, a three-part true-crime docuseries that exposes one of Italy’s most feared criminal syndicates, the ’Ndrangheta, and its stronghold in Toronto.

The project is produced by Vancouver-based Screen Siren Pictures in association with Last Word Entertainment for Canadian streamer Crave. It premieres this week. Fynbo and Carroll are executive producers alongside Steven Thibault and director Trish Dolman.

In addition to Mafia: Most Wanted, Last Word Entertainment said it is also in production on several other unannounced projects for streaming platforms.

Fynbo spent nearly 20 years at Beyond Rights, helping launch franchises like Love It or List It and Highway Through Hell, and securing major distribution deals with networks including Discovery Channel, HGTV, Netflix and National Geographic.

“This mafia underworld has long been hidden, and Mafia: Most Wanted is about to change that,” said Fynbo. “Launching Last Word Entertainment is about that same drive: pushing boundaries, uncovering the untold and telling stories that demand to be heard. Mafia: Most Wanted is just the beginning.”
