Eva Longoria to star in Apple TV+ adaptation of Sandra Barneda’s Land of Women

US tech giant Apple has commissioned a dual-language dramedy based on Sandra Barneda’s best-selling novel Land of Women for its Apple TV+ streaming service.

The six-episode series will star Eva Longoria and Carmen Maura and was created and written by Ramón Campos (Gran Hotel, Velvet) and Gema R Neira (Now & Then, Velvet).

Longoria will take the leading role as Gala and executive produce via her UnbeliEVAble Entertainment banner. The series is currently in pre-production in Spain.

The plot centres on a New Yorker whose life is turned upside down when her husband implicates the family in financial improprieties, and she is forced to flee the city alongside her aging mother and college-age daughter.

The series is produced for Apple TV+ by Bambu Studios and the show will be shot in both English and Spanish and made available to watch in each language.

The series joins Apple TV+’s stable of original shows including Ted Lasso and The Morning Show.
