The deal sees Newen Connect receiving financial investment in exchange for Anton gaining shared distribution revenues from its overall slate.
The arrangement allows Newen Connect to strengthen its capacity to develop and support European programmes for international audiences and in addition to Newen inhouse production companies, reinforce major production partnerships that can develop and deliver such titles.
The deal marks the third extension to the agreement between Newen Connect and Anton that first began in 2019 with a €35m (US$39m) investment and was extended first time in 2022 with a €50m (US$56m) deal. Financial terms of the latest agreement were not disclosed.
Newen says Anton’s investment has allowed the company to develop series with inhouse labels and strategic production partnerships with companies including UCG and Jude Law’s Riff Raff Entertainment, as well as invest in more than 70 TV projects from across Europe. This has resulted in titles such as Cat’s Eyes for TF1, as well as Swedish political thriller 8 Months and the forthcoming sci-fi blockbuster We Come in Peace.
The agreement has also allowed Newen Connect to invest in English language programmes such as The Teacher (UK) and Limbo (Australia).
Rodolphe Buet, CEO Newen Connect, says: “I’m delighted that Newen Connect and Anton will be continuing their relationship for a further three years. Newen Connect has significant plans both in the range of the projects we want to co-develop and invest in over the next years and the scale of ambition for these titles. This partnership with Anton will allow us to deliver against our strategy: extending our English-speaking line up and supporting the most ambitious European production, building global IPs for international audiences.”
