European broadcasters France Télévisions, RTBF, SVT, YLE join First Line in teen drama pick-up

Canadian live-action teen-focused series First Line

Broadcasters France Télévisions, RTBF in Belgium, SVT in Sweden and YLE in Finland have acquired Canadian live-action tween and teen-focused series First Line.

France Télévisions has picked up the exclusive free-to-air and FVoD rights to the first 26×21’ season for its linear channels and Okoo streaming platform. SVT and RTBF have also acquired the free TV and FVoD rights to season one, while YLE has bought the FVoD rights for its Arena streaming service.

First Line was commissioned by Radio-Canada and is produced by Canadian studio Avanti-Toast. Seasons one and two air on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV EXTRA and ICI TÉLÉ, while a third season is in post-production for delivery in spring this year.

Based on Nadia Lakhdari’s book collection, First Line centres on the journey of a budding female athlete as she steps up to join an elite all-boys hockey team. As a young teenager, she courageously navigates the challenging and often masculine world of sports, all while managing the complexities of rivalries, friendships and relationships that teenagers experience.

Barcelona-based GoldBee distributes the series globally, excluding Spanish-speaking territories.
