Euro, Russian nets try Orange Smarty factual

Bear About the House: Living with My Supersized Pet was produced for Channel 4

Broadcasters in Sweden, Croatia and Russia are among those to have acquired a string of factual content from independent UK distributor Orange Smarty.

The Brighton-based company has sold Claimed & Shamed, Call the Cleaners and Bear About the House: Living with My Supersized Pet around the world, as well as investing in a second season of Paul O’Grady’s Little Heroes for ITV.

The latter show, produced by O’Grady’s production company Olga TV, shows the chatshow host and presenter talking with children being treated at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital and the staff who are caring for them.

TV4 in Sweden has picked up seasons seven, eight and nine of long-running BBC1 programme Claimed & Shamed (40×45’), which follows a team of insurance investigators as they attempt to expose conmen and fraudsters. RTL Croatia said it had picked up S7-8 of the docuseries.

V4 Sweden, Discovery Turkey and Russia, Sky Prime/Vibe New Zealand and Discovery Asia have also acquired both seasons of Call the Cleaners (12×30’), with Poland’s Polsat picking up S2 of the extreme cleaning show.

Virgin Media in Ireland, Discovery Poland and inflight operator Global Eagle Entertainment, for KLM, have also bought rights to the show, which has more than three million viewers on ITV.

Barcroft Productions’ Bear About the House: Living with my Supersized Pet was produced for Channel 4 in the UK.

The film, which follows Stepan, a 7ft, 55-stone Russian bear and its owners who look after him in their home, has also been sold to TV2 in Denmark, Medialaan, AV Jet, MCOT in Thailand, Ceska Televize in the Czech Republic and TVN in Poland.
