Euro networks stage second Manhunt

Manhunt II: The Night Stalker is based on the real case of a serial rapist

DR TV in Denmark, VRT in Belgium and SVT in Sweden are among international broadcasters to have picked up the forthcoming second season of fact-based drama Manhunt.

Produced by Buffalo Pictures, both Manhunt and Manhunt II: The Night Stalker were written and executive produced by Ed Whitmore (Silent Witness, Rillington Place, Strike Back) and were first commissioned for ITV in the UK.

Deals have also been struck with Filmin in Spain, NRK in Norway and NOS in the Netherlands, while coproduction funding has been secured from AMC Networks’ Acorn TV for North and South America, as well as from the Seven Network in Australia.

Manhunt II: The Night Stalker will see Martin Clunes reprise his role as former London police detective DCI Colin Sutton who this time helps solve the case of a serial rapist whose 17-year reign of terror left thousands of elderly people in South-East London living in fear.

The four-parter will premiere later this year on ITV in the UK and on streaming service Acorn TV in North and South America

London-based distributor NENT Studios UK handles the UK rights for Manhunt II: The Night Stalker.

Elin Thomas, exec VP of sales at NENT Studios UK, said: “With its painstaking portrayal of a real-life criminal investigation, the first series of Manhunt successfully gripped viewers around the world, so we are thrilled to represent a second series of this calibre.”
