Euro nets board Dynamic’s Trapped

Broadcasters across Europe have pre-bought Icelandic crime series Trapped, while Germany’s ZDF and ZDF Enterprises have come on board as coproduction partners.

Icelandic pubcaster RUV commissioned fledgling US producer Dynamic TV to make its debut television project, alongside local prodco RVK Studios, in April.

The 10×60’ series, from Icelandic director and RVK head Baltasar Kormakur (Everest), follows the investigation of a grisly murder that occurs shortly after an international ferry arrives in a small town. A powerful blizzard then hits the region, making the roads impassable.

The show, which starts filming in Iceland this winter, has now been pre-sold to France Télévisions, SVT in Sweden, DR1 in Denmark, NRK in Norway and YLE in Finland.

Meanwhile, Germany’s ZDF and ZDF Enterprises have joined as coproduction and distribution partners for German speaking territories and Central and Eastern Europe.

Dynamic’s Daniel March and former Atlantique Productions co-CEO Klaus Zimmermann, who joined the LA-based firm in March, will serve as exec producers and oversee worldwide distribution.

The drama is based on an original idea by Kormakur and has been written by Sigurjon Kjartansson and Clive Bradley. Kormakur is producing and directing the pilot under the RVK banner with Magnus Vidar Sigurdsson.

Well-known Icelandic actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, who has recently appeared in films including A Walk Among the Tombstones and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, has been cast as the lead.

Dynamic describes itself as a packaging, acquisition and distribution company and is focused on coproduction for the global market.
