CTRL Z: Russian Voices looks at the impact of the war on ordinary people

RTS in Switzerland, RTBF in Belgium, Spain’s TV3 and Portugal’s CNN have acquired a documentary following people in Russia affected by the war in Ukraine.

CTRL Z: Russian Voices is the first film from Bizarre Productions, a new prodco launched by Gaspard Lamunière, former commissioning editor at RTS.

It is filmed in the small town where the director, who uses the pseudonym Natacha Rostova, grew up and looks at the impact of the conflict on the lives of the people living there. The contributors’ identities have also been obscured for their own protection.

Lamunière said: “For a producer, the project Russian Voices was a gift. Bringing testimonies from soldiers and their relatives outside of the country was an incredible opportunity for Natacha Rostova’s project. At only 24, she was brave enough to shoot her film undercover, gaining trust from her characters.”

Paris-based Java Films is distributing CTRL Z: Russian Voices internationally.
