One Word Kill follows Nick Hayes, a 15-year-old boy genius who, after discovering he is dying, finds himself in a race against time to unravel an impossible mystery and save his new gaming friend, Mia.

The young-adult scripted series is being written by Holly Phillips (Sugar Rush, Get Even).

Indie Synchronicity Films was founded by Claire Mundell, and was behind mystery drama The Cry, which starred Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) and was commissioned by the UK’s BBC and Australia’s ABC.

Barmack set up Wild Sheep Content in 2019 after leaving Netflix, where he was responsible for the strategy, budget and creative vision of a team of more than 40 executives who helped create 100-plus productions in more than 25 countries.

Mundell, founder and creative director at Synchronicity Films, said: “Erik’s understanding of the global scripted marketplace is second to none, and we are genuinely thrilled to be working with him to bring Mark’s addictive book trilogy to the screen. This story has it all: fantasy, high stakes, romance – and Dungeons and Dragons. With her incredible track record of creating award-winning shows, Holly is the perfect writer to adapt these fantasy novels for a YA audience.”
